MEET THE TEAM

Ammar graduated from the University of Baghdad in 2002 and relocated to the UK, where he successfully completed the ORE exam in 2012. Following this, he undertook a year of vocational training to further enhance his skills. Specializing in cosmetic dentistry, Ammar completed a prestigious Tipton training course, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Opal Dental. With 22 years of experience, Ammar is committed to providing top-notch dental care.

In 2022, Ammar moved to Cardiff to start a new journey as a principal dentist at Opal Dental, aiming to expand the services offered to meet the diverse needs of patients.

​

Outside of work, Ammar is a passionate football enthusiast and a big Liverpool fan. He also enjoys traveling, exploring new places, and experiencing different cultures. His dedication to both his profession and personal interests makes him a dynamic and valued member of our team.

Ban graduated from the University of Baghdad in 2002 and, like Ammar, relocated to the UK, completing the ORE exam in 2012 followed by a year of vocational training. With a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry and facial aesthetics, Ban continually seeks to expand her skills in these areas. With 22 years of professional experience, Ban is dedicated to providing exceptional dental care tailored to the needs of her patients.

In 2022, Ban moved to Cardiff to embark on a new chapter as a principal dentist at Opal Dental, focusing on expanding the range of services to better meet patient needs.

Outside of work, Ban manages a busy life with her two energetic children. She enjoys reading, swimming, and cooking, finding balance and joy in both her professional and personal life. Her commitment to excellence and patient care makes her a vital part of our practice.

Rachael graduated from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 2004 with a BDS degree. Following her vocational training, she focused on general practice, with a particular interest in NHS treatments. Rachael has been a valued member of our practice since 2009, bringing years of expertise and dedication to our team.

In response to the growing demand for facial aesthetics, Rachael earned a qualification in 2020 to administer Botox treatments, enhancing her ability to provide comprehensive care for her patients.

​

Outside of work, Rachael is kept busy by her two boys, but she also enjoys running, traveling, and socializing with friends. Her diverse interests and commitment to both her professional and personal life make her a well-rounded and integral part of our practice.

Mr. Al-Rikabi is a consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon with extensive expertise in dental, oral, and facial surgery. He completed five years of higher specialist training, earning the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS OMFS) in October 2016. This rigorous training has made him proficient in facial aesthetics, oral surgery, dental implants, and the management of facial pain.

Mr. Al-Rikabi began his dental career by obtaining his BDS in 1996, accumulating 26 years of experience. In 2004, he earned membership in the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (MFDS RCPS). He also passed the International Qualifying Exam (IQE) for overseas dentists by the General Dental Council in Edinburgh in 2005.

In 2009, Mr. Al-Rikabi completed four years of medical studies in Cardiff, obtaining his Bachelor of Medicine degree (MBBCH), and subsequently worked as a doctor in South Wales. In 2010, he gained membership in the Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh (MRCS).

​

Currently, Mr. Al-Rikabi serves as an Oral & Maxillofacial Consultant Surgeon at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton, where he provides expert care to NHS patients. He also brings his extensive surgical skills to Llanedeyrn Dental Practice and Family Dental Care Dental Practice. Outside of his clinical duties, Mr. Al-Rikabi is deeply committed to advancing the field of facial aesthetics and oral surgery.

Gemma is our esteemed Lead Nurse at Opal Dental Practice. She qualified in 2016 with a Level 3 Dental Nursing Diploma and has since been an integral part of our team. Gemma excels in her role, overseeing training, conducting audits, and ensuring that all procedures and protocols are up to date.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Gemma enjoys spending her free time on holidays with her family, creating cherished memories and recharging for her important work at the practice.

Jessica began her dental career at another practice before joining Opal Dental Practice in February 2023. Since then, she has successfully completed her training and earned a Level 3 Dental Nursing Diploma. As our dedicated full-time dental nurse, Jessica is known for her tireless work ethic and enthusiastic approach to patient care.

Outside of the practice, Jessica enjoys a variety of hobbies, including learning to play the guitar and attending live music events. She also values quality time with her family, spending her free moments with her husband and son.

Michelle has been a dedicated professional in the dental field since 2004. With 13 years of experience at one practice, she brought her extensive expertise to Opal Dental in March 2023. Michelle is committed to providing exceptional care and support to our patients, drawing on her many years of experience.

Outside of work, Michelle is a devoted mother of three and a proud grandmother of three. She cherishes spending time with her family and grandchildren, creating lasting memories. Michelle’s warm personality and strong family values make her a beloved member of our team.

Lauren joined Opal Dental Practice in March 2024 as our newest trainee dental nurse. She is currently embarking on her training journey, working diligently towards becoming a qualified dental nurse. Lauren's enthusiasm and dedication are evident as she integrates into our team and begins her professional development.

Outside of work, Lauren enjoys spending quality time with her family, balancing her commitment to her career with her personal life.

Bev is the newest addition to the Opal Dental team. With an extensive career spanning 40 years at the tax office, she brings a wealth of experience and professionalism to our practice. Bev also has valuable experience as a doctor’s receptionist, making her well-versed in managing front desk operations with efficiency and care.

Outside of work, Bev enjoys dining out and spending quality time with her husband. She is also a dedicated volunteer for Macmillan, demonstrating her commitment to helping others in the community. Bev's warm personality and extensive experience make her a wonderful asset to our team.
